Dryer Repair

Common Dryer Problems

Dryer Won’t Turn On

If your dryer doesn't want to power on, the most common reason is a blown thermal fuse. The fuse acts as a mechanism to prevent overheating inside the unit.
A blown fuse could be one of two things, just a faulty part, or another issue that pushed the temperature too high, which in turn blew the fuse. In most cases, the dryer needs to be taken apart for investigation.

Dryer Isn’t Spinning

The most likely cause is a bad belt or a stuck pulley. Bad rollers can also seize in place, but that's less common.
Usually, if the belt is broken, the dryer won't start at all, because the belt is connected to a pulley on the motor, with a trip switch. This way when the belt breaks, the pulley loses tension, and the switch is activated, telling the machine not to run.

Loud Banging During Operation

Almost definitely damaged rollers that need to be replaced.
